Job Description
The CNC Machinist plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and programming computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts and components. This position requires a deep understanding of machining techniques, materials, and tooling to ensure that all products meet exact specifications and quality standards. The CNC Machinist will collaborate closely with engineering and quality assurance teams to interpret blueprints and technical drawings, making necessary adjustments to optimize production efficiency. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential to troubleshoot machine issues and maintain consistent output. Ultimately, the role contributes to the overall success of the manufacturing operation by delivering high-quality, reliable parts on schedule and within budget.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of machining tools, materials, and safety protocols.
  • Experience with CNC programming and operation, including knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or technical training program in CNC machining.
  • Familiarity with Solid Works & Mastercam for programming CNC machines.
  • Experience working with a variety of materials such as metals, plastics, and composites.
  • Experience operating injection molding machines or similar manufacturing equipment. Basic understanding of mold design and tooling.
  • Certification from a recognized machining or manufacturing organization.
  • Basic knowledge of quality control standards such as ISO or Six Sigma.
Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines including lathes, mills, and grinders to manufacture precision parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Program CNC machines using G-code and other programming languages to execute precise machining operations.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to tooling, feeds, and speeds to optimize production quality and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure optimal operation and prevent downtime.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process issues to minimize production interruptions.
  • Document production data, machine settings, and maintenance activities accurately.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality control personnel to resolve production issues and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate production records and report any deviations or defects promptly.
Skills:
The CNC Machinist utilizes technical skills daily to program and operate CNC machinery, ensuring parts are produced to exact specifications. Proficient mechanical skills are required to set up, and maintain complex molding machines, and ensure smooth production flow.  Strong analytical skills are applied when interpreting complex blueprints and making precise adjustments to machine settings. Problem-solving abilities are essential for diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues quickly to maintain production flow. Communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with engineers and quality teams to improve processes and product quality. Additionally, attention to detail and manual dexterity are critical for performing inspections and handling tools safely and efficiently.
Job Type:
Full-time, Monday – Thursday 5:45am-4:15pm. Starting wage range: $20 - $25 per hour Pay is competitive and based on experience.
